I have some time on my hand so one more blog post. This is kinda weird to me because modeling can build confidence but it can also brake it. So with me and My exspirance with modeling it built it. I'm not saying there were not moments of self doubt or anything... There was plenty of it. I suffer from some major anxiety issues. Modeling kinda took this shy little girl and took her out of her comforter zone in a good way. I got to go threw modeling and acting classes at John Robert Powers and when I was with Top Models of Texas they would hold classes for weeks before we flew out to Texas up in Saltlake . I was very uncoordinated. I could hardly tell my right foot from my left let alone walk in High heels..... But we practiced every week we would wear them why I was home I would walk my little heart out. one time braking down into tears in front of the rest of the models feeling like a fool because I could not do the walk. It felt like it would be easier to just flat out quit and I was 13 and I just wanted to run and Hide. I had parents who pushed me to keep going. Finely It was time to hit Texas for the modeling competition. and it was time for me to walk the cat walk where all the model scouts would be watching. I was not even scared. I got on that cat walk and I strutted my stuff. Mission accomplished! I felt amazing! I had kicked one of my fears in the butt! I believed in my self enough to stand up there and do that. Another reason it built confidence is I heard the word no or the word your just not right. This is one thing that can Majorly Brake your confidence! It can make you not feel good enough that is an awful feeling. You have thoughts like "OMG whats wrong with me" or "I'm just not pretty. "I know people who are drop dead gorgeous that have been told no and never went back and tried. Keep trying ,Keep dreaming! It dose not matter what anyone else thinks of you. Have faith in your self. I doubt my self all the time I think that's part of life but I love my self to know it dose not matter what others think. the sad Hard truth is not every one can be a model. I was watching a thing about modeling and they were saying Modeling is not about real women its about a fantasy . Modeling can cause self doubt . It can make people feel bad if they do not fit the standards of what a model should be.In my opinion something I think an agency looks for is completely unrealistic. The reason I feel like modeling was a confident builder for me is because I decided I was going to just do me. I was not going to let it brake me. I did not want to mold my self in to some one I am not. It helped me stand up for my self. I dont want to be a fantasy I just want to be me. So its rely about staying true to your self when your in an world that can pick you apart from limb to limb. love your self and your body. and if your not what they are looking for then screw them their loss.

Love/Hate modeling. Hear is why
Just because I know every one who models has a different exspirance. In this blog this is all about my own exspirance. If you have gone threw the same or something totally different that's fine and feel free to share your story in comments.
I will do a list of love first and then I will so a list of hates
Loves
- It can be a very good way to express your self.
- It builds confidence. It did in my case. I will save that story for a different blog post.
- It can be used positively. In my case I just want to show others no mater your age you can still have dreams and feel beautiful.
- Modeling is a little like acting you get to dress up and be some one else for awhile.
- Fashion. I'm a women who has always loved fashion
- It can give you a thick skin and that can be good in ways
Hates
- Very competitive. I would say I am a person who goes after what she wants but I have a hard time throwing others under the buss to do it
- Cut throat. from my exspirance one moment your on the top the next its some other pretty face that's just kinda how it goes in modeling
- Mean girls. I'm all about building each other up but not every one else is.
- Weight. This will also be used in a different blog post.
- Scams. there is allot of modeling scams believe it or not. Ill be doing a blog post on this as well
- Others look at you different. Iv had a few friend you treated me awful after they found out I was modeling. Now a true friend would be happy for you. That's what I think any way. But it still hurts pretty bad when that happens .
Portfolios and comp card
I may use this guys website allot I just love his advice!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ObpPaMFmf4
When I first started going to agency's I did not have Any Professional Photos. I had some from a normal camera that my family took. some head shots and some body shots They were just to show the agency Not to put in my portfolio. When I signed with the agency I paid them to take professional photos. YOU MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS. Now you do not need to have them take them, you can find other Photographers to take your photos and make your comp cards. But with every agency I have been to and the one I signed from they wanted me to take photos with them. So in some cases I had fantastic photos but they were not from the agency. And the way I understand it is because they want you to be their product in away of speaking. most want to market you as there own. I turned down allot of agency's simply because I could not afford to keep up with my portfolio and constantly having to get new photos. Also just FYI. If you change your hair color or get a hair cut you must get new photos! People who are interested in you dont want you showing up looking different then what you did in your photos. Now getting back to getting your photos done.In some cases you can do TF *Trade shoot.* meaning you find a photographer who is also looking to build there photographer portfolio and you trade talents. you get 2 or 3 photos. This is not a bad way to do it. always check out the Photographer before shooting check out the other photos The photographer has taken. If you pay some one , do the same thing. You will get more photos if it is a pay shoot. Some agency's will work with your photos. But in my case every agency I went to wanted me to pay to shoot with them... So I dont know what to tell you about that. During my time with an agency I used my comp card more then my portfolio. A comp card is a card with different types of photos on it. I used my comp-card from 2006 that is from the agency I was with. well.. the way mine was made up is on the front of the card it has a colored head shot of you. at the bottom the Agency's name and their phone number. on the back mine had 2 black and white body shots. with my name below . The comp card is used to hand out at casting calls and auditions
you go to. The reason the agency s name and number is on it is because any one who is interested ,books threw them and not from you. Its also safer for the model for the Agency to Handel booking. Now some Additions will require your full portfolio so always Carrie that just in case. I have also Posted my very first comp card from when I was about 13. It looked totally different from the one I had in 2006. Comp cards can look different depending the agency.

Not about being big or small. It is about being Healthy .
So some of you have seen the photo on my page where there are women standing by each other with different sizes and different ages. This can be a touchy subject I guess to some. This all started when I found a photo on Pinterest where is showed a curvy women next to a Skinner women and it said " Curvier is way sexier then this" talking about the other Women... I sat and Looked at these women and thought to my self.... "These women are both Beautiful" Then I started to think why do we do that? Why are we bringing each other down for being to big or to slim.... I feel as women we need to stand by each other and build each other up. In my opinion it is not about being big or small it is about being HEALTHY. It is about treating your body with love and respect. Its learning to love you in your own skin. I'm trying not to get to much of a Spice girl completion lol Girl power and all that stuff. But this was something that rely bothered me... No one is build the same every one is different. If that girl is slimmer then you who cares if she has way more booty then you and you wish you had some of that. Fine what ever but Lets stop riping on each other for being a different body build then you. Im in no means bragging but want to share some of my personal exspirance. Growing up I was made fun of and bullied Because people thought I was to thin. And I was.. thin I had a very high high metabolism and I had a very hard time gaining LBS. I was harassed people spreed rumors saying how Id throw up after eating I was fallowed in to the bath room because they wanted to see if I would puke. It was awful I Hated going to school I felt bad about my self. My point is why do you have to make some one feel bad? you do not know there issues or problems. so BACK OFF. Help each other stand by each other. There is saying I like it goes like this " You can tell who the strong women are. They are the ones you see building one another up instead of tearing each other down." You are you for a reason. Jealousy gets no one anywhere . Be proud of who you are. Rember its not about being big or small its about being Healthy and taking care of your self.
A very powerful photo with a message
This inspired me . We are all different none of us the same . Don't bring some one for being to thin to big to young to old . we are women and should build each other up and realize we are not the same but we are all beautiful! Photo found on pinterest.
My Facebook page.
I will post hear On this blog some but you can find my photo shoots also I list links with grate modeling info. My facebook page
Why modeling? Why I model
Some people have different opinions on modeling. Hear is why I model. Its not because I think I am better then any one. I am just a person like ever one else no better no less. I am confidant in the fact that I am flawed. Flawed is human. I believe every one should feel beautiful tall, short, thick, or thin. I dont think there is anything wrong with feeling beautiful. I think Every women should feel beautiful. And I think there is nothing wrong in feeling confidant. There is a big difference in confidence and arrogance in my opinion. growing up I was not as confidant as you would think .. I was and still am some times insecure about who I am . I think thats just part of life for every one. growing and figuring out where you stand in life. The world is always changing and you can ether get left behind or grow and change with it. I always loved modeling and fashion I had a pretty active imagination and liked to get dressed up and put on fashion shows for my grandmother. People told me I should try modeling So I asked my parents. I Heard a add on the radio one day I was like 13 and it was for a talent scout agency called Top Models Texas so I went to the casting call and they picked me to go to Texas I had to pay my way out there. I did not get picked for anything and came home empty handed. I did however have the training they thought us . I was later told not to go to anything on the radio that they were most likely scams. is this true I dont know most likely lol But later I heard about the modeling and acting School John Robert Powers I asked my mom and dad to let me go. It was a grate learning exspirance I also learned that modeling can be a very cut throat type of business. One minute your on top the next your not. This is my own personal exspirance it may be different for others but I struggled making friends the girls were mean and talked behind each others back. Given if you are actually in this to model your not in it to make friends you have to have a thick skin. But I honestly did not like it. you also need to learn to hear the word " you are not what we are looking for" I heard this a few times. It can be hard for selfestem. But you need to believe in your self take it as a learning exspirance and keep pushing on. I joined an agency and got a few gigs hear and there. later I got married and Now I have 2 kids. Modeling is still a passion of mine. I believe that strong women build each other up and dont tare other women down. I believe in respecting my self. I also learned you can be very pushed around and stepped all over. You must learn to stick your grown and speak up for your self. Modeling is a grate way to express your self to tell story's threw photos. I love the creative side. Modeling is not who I am but it is A part of me it has taught me to believe in my self to stand up for my self and to stand my ground. It taught me to be OK in my own skin. Its OK to feel beautiful to be confidant and to inspire others to feel beautiful as well. This in a short vision is why I model.
Why my blog is called Just a washed up model
I started modeling when I was about 13 I did this till I got married when I was 20. After that I took a very long brake. The state I am in is not what I would call a model state. I did allot of model promo work Nothing majorly big. I test shot for a few products but did not get a call back. But hey I got to test shoot that was pretty cool! But I never made it to big time Holly wood fame lol I had dreamed about that then but now I have a family. I am not longer that 13 year old girl I am a full grown women. I am A wife and A mother. This I take grate pride in and this is what I put first my family .I am now 29 almost 30. I call my self a washed up model because I am just one of many who have attempted modeling and never maid it very far. lol but I am OK with that. I take my time as a model and I use it as a steeping stone and as a learning exspirance. It has helped me feel confidant in my skin and with who I am. I loved and hated it . I will post another blog about that part later.. What I want to do with my modeling now is to kinda inspire women even other models that it is OK to still feel beautiful. To keep dreaming and not to give it up. To me It dose not matter if I hit big time or not what matters is I am showing other women that its OK to still believe in your dreams what ever they are. What matters to me is that I am having fun. When modeling stops being fun for me this is when I will stop doing it. The photo on the left I was 13. Photo on the Right 29.
It's never to early or too late to start believing in yourself.
