Portfolios and comp card

I may use this guys website allot I just love his advice!
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ObpPaMFmf4

When I first started going to agency's I did not have Any Professional Photos. I had some  from a normal camera that my  family took. some head shots and some body shots  They  were just to show the agency Not  to put in my portfolio.  When I signed with the agency I paid them to take professional photos.  YOU MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS. Now you do not need to have them take them, you  can find other Photographers to take your photos and make your comp cards. But with every agency I have been to and the one I signed from they wanted me to take photos with them.  So in some cases I had fantastic photos but they were not from the agency. And the way I understand it is because they want you to be their product in away of speaking.  most want to market you as there own. I turned down allot of agency's simply because I could not afford to keep up with my portfolio and constantly having  to get new photos. Also just FYI. If you change your hair color or get a hair cut you must get new photos! People who are interested in you dont want you showing up looking different then what you did in your photos. Now  getting back to getting your photos done.In some cases you can do TF *Trade shoot.* meaning you find a photographer who is also looking to build there photographer portfolio and  you trade talents. you get 2 or 3 photos. This is not a bad way to do it. always check out the Photographer  before shooting check out the other photos The photographer  has taken. If you pay some one , do the same thing. You will get more photos if it is a pay shoot. Some agency's  will work with your photos. But in my case every agency I went to wanted me to pay to shoot with them... So I dont know what to tell you  about that.  During my time with an agency I used my comp card more then my portfolio. A comp card is a card with different types of photos on it. I used my comp-card from 2006 that is from the agency I was with.  well.. the way mine was  made up is on the front of the card it has a colored head shot of you.   at the bottom the Agency's name and their phone number. on the back  mine had 2 black and white body shots. with my name below . The comp card is used to hand out at casting calls and  auditions
you  go to.  The reason the agency s name and number is on it is because any one who is interested ,books threw them and not from you. Its also safer for the model for the Agency  to Handel booking.   Now some Additions will require your full portfolio so always Carrie that just in case. I have also Posted my  very first comp card from when I was about 13.  It looked totally different from the one I had in 2006.  Comp cards can look different depending the agency.

This  was my very first comp card.

This comp card from different agency then the first
